Banned Movies in Malaysia

There are some famous movies that never screened in our local cinemas due to some reason. Here is some movies:

1. Noah (2014)- Banned due to religious content.

2. Banglasia (2014)- Banglasia" was heavily criticised by LPF(Film Censorship Board) and KDN(Home Ministry department) which received 31 official notes and orders to re-shoot the movie.

3. Vishwaroopam (2013)- was shown in local cinemas on 24 January 2013, but the approval was withdrawn the next day, in accordance with a directive from the Home Ministry following concerns from the public that the film portrays Islam in a negative light. Malaysian authorities lifted the ban on 19 February 2014 however, after several scenes were cut.

4. Paranormal activity 2 (2010)

5. Piranha 3D- Passed with a heavily censored version (six minutes removed) in 2010, due to sexual and nude content only; violent content remains somewhat intact.

6. Paranormal Activity 1 (2009)

7. Anaconda 4- Trail of blood (2009) - banned, due to high-impact violence and cruelty.

8. Anaconda 3- Offspring (2008)- banned, due to very high-impact violence and cruelty

9. Saw (2004-Present) - The entire Saw is banned, due to very high-impact violence and cruelty

10. Zoolander (2001) - Banned for an offensive joke about the country in the film.
